Book Review- The Bear and the Piano
By David Litchfield
A bear cub finds a strange thing in the forest. Turns out that the strange thing is a Piano. Slightly intimidated by it at first, he goes on to master it, so much so that he is on the path to become the greatest pianist ever.
An opportunity to perform in the city presents itself and the bear, though unsure, is also enamored by the life which awaits. The pursuit of his dreams makes him successful beyond measure but there is a gaping hole in his heart which nothing can fill.
Have you ever lived anywhere away from home? This is probably the story of every immigrant ever. You leave home for a better life and though you find all that your heart desires, you realize that your heart has now shifted and in its place is an emptiness which grows bigger with time.
Finally the bear does come back to his beloved home but does he find what he wants waiting for him?
This is a heartwarming story of reaching out for your dreams and knowing that home is where the heart is. And also that the pursuit of your dreams is never at the cost of the other, coz what you think is home is where people will love you always, without question!
Ideal for kids aged 4+ yrs.
