As a mom to a then 3m old baby, I was in the market for books to read to my child. Till then I'd read aloud a few pages from the book I was reading- Nietzsche! And that hardly seemed appropriate for a 3m old.

A few google searches later, I was the proud owner of the book 'Goodnight Moon'- a classic which came much recommended by every knowledgeable person on the www. We disliked it. I didn't know what to do with it, child didn't take to it and I was disillussioned by Kidlit.

But not one to give up, we have over the years read and collected thousands of books, many we liked, many we disliked and many untouched. But along it all, I realised that when money, time and effort is a premium and there is only so much which we can buy, buying the best that is on offer is sometimes difficult.
