Book Review- Shhh! QUIET!
By Nicola Kinnear
A cute heartwarming story about the power of being quiet and knowing when to speak up.Â
Little fox is a quiet one. She loves being silent, which means she sees more, hears more and thereby is more present in the moment. Her friends a motley bunch- a raccoon, a squirrel and an owl are a riotous bunch up to no good. With not a silent moment amongst them, they are noisy and chaotic quickly going from noisy to boisterous to downright silly.Â
Fox is a storyteller and all she wants is for her friends to listen to her story quietly. But her friends are their noisy selves. But this time there is a bear lurking around. Little fox tries to warn them but she can’t be heard above the din. How does she save the day? Does she warn her friends in time?
We loved reading this book because we could relate to the protagonist. It is important to be quiet, but it’s also important to speak up for yourselves and for others. And learning when to do what is so important. This book opened up conversations on friendship, dealing with your friends, courage and communication.Â
Illustrations are delightful and the forest and the animals are lovely and refreshing.Â
Excellent for quieter ones and also the boisterous ones aged 3yrs and above.Â
