How Humpty Dumpty Got Back Up Again
By Dan Santat
Most children’s books, songs and rhymes are read and you move on. We don’t look for logic nor do we question the aftermath of it. It’s all supposedly fun and none too serious.Â
Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall- why an egg would sit on a wall, no one knows! Then he fell, but how?
This book takes off from where the rhyme stops. Humpty Dumpty was somehow salvaged. But not all parts of him have healed. Also he has developed PTSD and now is afraid of heights.Â
The reason he loved to sit on that wall was to see the bird soaring the sky. But along with all other favourite things of his, he is also unable to watch the birds. A paper plane gives him an idea of building his own bird plane. But as luck would have it, his plane gets stuck on the very same wall.Â
Does he pick the courage to get his bird down? Does he overcome his fear.
This is a book for the littles to overcome their anxiety. A great read for those jittery times when you need an extra dose of ‘you can do it’ attitude.Â
Stunning illustrations. The cereal aisle was such a stunning representation of his predicament. The double spread of his bird soaring was beautiful.Â
Ideal for kids aged 4+yrs
